You might have grown up reading and watching 'Harry Potter'. But did you know that Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley, is now an environmental activist? Wright uses her platform to promote greener living and has just written a new book called "Go Gently."

Bonnie Wright's main focus when it comes to being an environmental activist is reducing single-use plastics and conservation. While she still is involved with the film industry, a lot of her time and energy is focused on being an advocate! She is a Greenpeace ambassador - which is an organization that fights against massive fossil fuel companies, plastic polluters, and multinational corporations destroying our environment. Wright shares what she's passionate about on YouTube as well as other social media platforms; Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

"Earthlings" Campaign

One phrase that isn't uncommon to see on Wright's platforms is 'earthling'. In a blog article on her website, she explains what this means to her:

"The term Earthling is one of my favourite ways to think about how I relate to all other living species on Planet Earth. The term was first coined in Science Fiction novels to differentiate characters from Earth as apposed to characters like aliens from neighboring planets or solar systems. Within the food chain of animals and beings, lots of species get pushed to the bottom of the chain even though their very existence like mycelium supports our very existence as human beings at the top of the animal food chains. EARTHLINGS creates us equals, one common species sharing one beautiful and precious home Planet Earth."

I love how Bonnie Wright is advocating for EVERY creature. Not just to make sure the Earth is healthy for future generations of humans.

'Go Gently'

Wright has also started an Instagram account @gogently.earth and just recently published a book (which is available for preorder!) Not only is she advocating for systematic changes, she's also providing her followers with realistic ways to become more sustainable and connect more with nature. 'Go Gently' is all about practical ways to get involved and start making a difference - which I love!
