There's a common belief that individual action doesn't make a difference when it comes to eco living. Many people want to put all the accountability on businesses and governments.

I halfway agree.

Businesses create so much waste and government regulations can help keep things cleaner. However, individual's still play a BIG ROLE in reducing waste and taking care of the environment. The ways you shop, the ways you vote, and the way you live all affect what businesses and governments do. It's all about supply and demand, baby.

Maybe right now you don’t feel like you have that much influence on the environment (which I think is incorrect, but it's easy to feel that way!). But, even IF that was true - that’s not going to be the case forever! Who do you think the future leaders are? The future teachers, business owners, parents, politicians… it's US! We are! Don’t let yourself think it’s other people’s problem to solve and instead find small ways you can change your current life, workplace, community, etc. to be more eco friendly.

Something that I love about being eco-friendly is that there is a million ways to do it, and you don't have to do it all, just the parts that speak to you!

If you're passionate about fashion, you can find ways to make fashion more sustainable and eco-friendly!

If you're passionate about art, you can come up with creative ways to limit your waste.

If you love to cook, you can figure out ways to have a more eco-friendly kitchen and limit your food waste.

If you're passionate about politics, you can fight for the cause!

If you love teaching, you can teach others other to be sustainable!

This is an issue that affects most any aspect of life you can think about. You don't have to choose an area you don't care about when starting to be sustainable - you can look at what you're already passionate about and look to make that more eco!

If you're still unsure where to start, I've put together a beginner's guide to sustainable living. Each month, there's different challenges to make easy and affordable changes in various areas of you life and home! Check out here.

YOU GOT THIS! Until next time!

xoxo,

Kirsten
